Underwater Art Museums

The doors to the Museum of Underwater Art are now open, inviting people to dive along the Great Barrier Reef and appreciate the beauty of what lies beyond the surface of the water. The opening exhibit at the world’s first-ever underwater museum is the Coral Greenhouse, featuring a towering, 64-ton art structure created by sculptor Jason deClaires Taylor.

The art piece depicts 20 statues in the form of students researching corals, and as Taylor describes: “I… wanted to encourage more youth into marine science and into exploring and understanding the underwater world.”
