What we’ll be drinking in 2018: Crafty crémants, nifty negronis and, yes, more gin

As we head into 2018, here’s a look at some of the key trends in drink, and how they look set to play out in the next 12 months.

Prices on the up

The devaluation of sterling following the Brexit vote has already pushed up the price of wine and a short harvest in 2017 is likely to make matters worse.

According to a report by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), global wine production is likely to be at its lowest since 1961 after frost and drought devastated harvests in France, Italy and Spain, which between them produce around half of the world’s wine.
